Cooling note & menthol notice (TPD2)
Transparent information for customers of the Holster shop.
As of August 2026. This indication explains why in the Holster Shop some tobacco types are marked with an asterisk (*), "Ice", "cool" or similar information.
1. What is TPD2?
The EU Tobacco Product Directive 2014/40/EU (often referred to as TPD2) was adopted in Germany mainly through the Tobacco Products Act (TabakerzG) and the Tobacco Products Regulation (TabakerzV) ==References==
2. Menthol in smoke tobacco
Since 20. May 2020 shall apply in Germany, inter alia:
- Menthol as an additive in cigarettes and smoking tobacco (incl. shisha tobacco) is no longer allowed.
- The goal is, among other things, inhalation and entry not by cooling or menthol additives.
Official classification among others at the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the BVL.
3. What does "Ice" / asterisk (*) mean to us?
Variety names or taste texts can continue to be words such as Ice or historical Menthol as a taste. The asterisk means:
* Cooling note without menthol. The indication refers to a menthol-free cooling note pursuant to manufacturer specification and should be TPD2 and tobacco oreG/tabakerzV compliant.
It means: notthat classic menthol as an additive is contained in tobacco.
4. Only Germany, only tobacco
We only ship and sell tobacco within Germany and only to persons aged 18 and over. E-liquids and other product groups may be subject to other rules and are not covered by this asterisk note.
5. No legal advice
This page serves the transparent customer information. It does not replace legal advice. The applicable laws and the manufacturer's particulars on the specific product are binding.
