Shisha tobacco, also called hookah or water pipe tobacco, is moist-cut tobacco processed with molasses or glycerine and flavorings. Cut, moisture and flavoring differ from brand to brand. That is why our range is organised so that you can find a suitable flavor quickly: by brand, by flavor direction and by pack size.

Shisha tobacco is usually grouped by flavor direction: fruity flavors, flavors with a cooling effect, sweet or dessert flavors and combinations such as grape-mint. Flavors also differ by tobacco base, for example light Virginia tobacco, and by pack size. Holster tobacco is based on Virginia tobacco. What is in shisha tobacco?
Shisha tobacco consists of moist-cut tobacco processed with glycerine, often also molasses or sugar syrup, and flavorings. Glycerine keeps the tobacco moist and produces the visible vapour when heated. The exact ingredients of a flavor are listed on the packaging. Tobacco naturally contains nicotine.
How long does shisha tobacco keep?
There is no fixed shelf life; the manufacturer’s information on the packaging applies. Unopened and stored cool, shisha tobacco remains usable for a long time. Once opened, it gradually loses moisture and flavor, especially if the pack is not sealed airtight. Tobacco that is dry, discoloured or smells unusual should no longer be used.
How do you store shisha tobacco correctly?
Shisha tobacco is ideally kept in its original packaging, sealed airtight, cool, dry and out of direct sunlight. A tightly closing container slows down drying out after opening. Heat, for example in a car or on a radiator, makes glycerine and flavorings evaporate faster. Tobacco must also be kept out of the reach of children and adolescents.
How much tobacco do you need for a shisha bowl?
The amount depends on the size and design of the bowl. Tobacco is filled in loosely so that a small gap remains between the tobacco and the bowl rim or foil and air can flow through. Tobacco packed too tightly restricts the draw; too much tobacco gets too close to the charcoal. Many bowl manufacturers state a suitable filling amount in their instructions.

What is a dry base like Holster Zero?
A dry base is flavored raw tobacco without glycerine. It is not ready to use as is; it is finished with taxed glycerine before use.
What does the asterisk on flavors with “Ice” mean?
According to the manufacturer, the asterisk indicates a cooling note without menthol. Menthol has not been permitted as an additive in water pipe tobacco since 20 May 2020.
